SIC Professional Development Program (PDP)

SIC Professional Development Program (PDP)

This training is for Mentor Pilots-in-Command who qualify for the requirements of a Professional Development Program (PDP). This training will help PICs to instill technical competencies, increase airmanship skills, and teach a higher level of professionalism in two-pilot operations.

We use key elements from FAA Advisory Circular 135-43: Part 135 SIC Professional Development Program, FAA-H-8083-9B: Aviation Instructor’s Handbook, NASA Technical Memorandum 112192: Facilitating LOS Debriefings: A Training Manual, and Bloom's Taxonomy of Educational Objectives to meet the requirements in Operation Specification A062.

This training is for a Part 135 company which has, or is applying for, Operations Specifications (Ops Specs) A062. Having A062 authorization allows a pilot employed by a Part 135 air carrier and serving as SIC to log flight time in certain aircraft that do not require a second pilot.

This training is not required under Part 91, by International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS‑BAO), or the Business Aviation Safety Consortium (BASC), but it can be used to build mentorship skills for captains.
