Automation Management
Negative outcomes related to automation management errors are course deviations, altitude deviations, and wrong airport landings. This module highlights 10 common errors business aviation pilots make when using automated systems in the cockpit with solutions on how to avoid each type of error. We have researched hundreds of NASA ASRS and ASAP reports and have extracted the key lessons learned from an industry Flight Deck Automation Working Group, the Flight Safety Foundation Active Pilot Monitoring Working Group, the Advanced Avionics Handbook, and Instrument Procedures Handbook.
The NBAA Management Guide (section 2.4) recommends advanced flight crew training above and beyond the regulatory requirements of the FAA as a best practice. That recommendation specifically cites automation training. This training module satisfies that NBAA training recommendation.
