Your Principal Operating Inspector (POI) is going to be knocking on your door soon regarding Notice 8900.664 | InFO 230009. At first, you'll wonder how in the world this affects you, but the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) isn't happy with how Part 135 has integrated Runway Analysis.

Basically, Part 121 has always had their own engineering department that would create, manage, and train Runway Analysis based on the small list of airports that the airline served. Part 135 uses contractors (like Aircraft Performance Group, LLC or ForeFlight) and national FAA has realized that many Part 135 operators write a check for the product and that is it. They don't validate the data, provide sufficient General Operating Manual (GOM) guidance for crews to use it, and don't adequately train on it.

The notice tells POIs that approval to use a contracted Runway Analysis product is issued through Ops Spec A009, and to approve that, the POI needs to review the operator's training program and GOM to make sure it is adequately addressed.

Advanced Aircrew Academy has reviewed hundreds of customer's manuals, so we know that many don't adequately address the topic right now. We can customize your training in our modules based on your approved/accepted system (which other eLearning providers don't do), so that makes our portion of the required training easy to get approved. The challenge for you is that Ops Spec A009 requires operators to have procedures published in their General Operating Manual, which many don't have right now.

Our Part 135 Aircraft Performance, Runway Analysis training section adequately addresses the "assumptions, limitations, correction factors, and format of the approved/accepted system" (Order 8900.1, Volume 4, Chapter 3, Airplane Performance and Airport Data) so we can help you with the rest.

We know it's confusing, but we can help. Just email training135@aircrewacademy.com and we'll work with you to get your training customized and updated, which those other eLearning companies can't do.
