The summer season is a great time to enjoy some refreshing lemonade, get your list of house projects completed, and attend the Takeoff and Landing Performance Assessment (TALPA) Update Meeting hosted by the FAA.
On July 11-12, 2017, stakeholders who are involved in the TALPA process will attend a working group to discuss the effectiveness of last year's data and provide feedback for upcoming changes to the process.
Are you involved with an Operator/Air Carrier, Airport Operation, Manufacturer, Aviation/Airport Industry affiliated organization, or NTSB personnel? If yes, this is a great way to get involved and contribute to the exciting changes occurring within our industry. The event will include formal presentations by the Flight Standards Service, Office of Airports, Air Traffic Control Organization, Transport Aircraft Standards, and the Federal NOTAM Systems.

On October 1, 2016, the TALPA procedures were implemented at Part 139 airports to help pilots and dispatchers more accurately and consistently determine the distance required to stop on a wet or contaminated paved runway. Visit the Advanced Aircrew Academy website to learn more about this subject in their Winter Operations/Surface Contamination eLearning module.
