UAS: Fatigue Management

UAS: Fatigue Management

Fatigue research in general shows that predicting performance for a specific aviation operation can be challenging, particularly if fatigue is not mitigated. Although UAS operations are in their infancy, fatigue must be considered when developing fitness-for-duty guidelines for UAS operators. Fitness for duty requirements already exist for other aviation operations [Code of Federal Aviation Regulations (14 CFR) Parts 121, 119, 117, 135].

Fatigue has been cited by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) as a causal factor in many accidents. The UAS: Fatigue Management module is designed to raise awareness on the causes of fatigue and countermeasures to reduce or mitigate the effects of fatigue in UAS operations.
